This video clip is focused on true Christian leadership which is based on Jesus Christ’s example. This type of leadership is called - servant-leader. The lesson is based on Mark 10:35-45

I was reading in John 6 today and found a good explanation why I believe that the Lord’s Supper is just symbolic of Christ’s blood and body rather than literally Christ’s blood and body.
John 6:53-58

53Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.
54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.
57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.
58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.

Does Jesus literally mean that when people eat His flesh, they have eternal life? I don’t believe that Jesus intended this way because this would be cannibalism. However, Jesus used these sayings to mystify Jewish people who wanted to make Jesus the King because He performed a miracle of feeding 5,000 men. Jesus was saying that they would have to have fellowship with Him in order to have eternal life. I’m not arguing that the passage above is the strongest argument against literal body and blood in the Communion. But just presenting a point that Jesus was not literal when He spoke about His flesh and blood being eaten by the Christians. Same concept can be applied to Jesus’ statement about the bread and the wine being His body and blood.

I highly recommend you to utilize a Bible Study website at www.blueletterbible.org. It is a wonderful resource for anybody to study the Bible.

This is a video clip I did about Philippians 3:12-14 in which Paul expressed his lifetime goal to be like Christ.
Philippians 3:12-14

Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

I was reading the book of Luke today and I came to this thought about Mary, the mother of Jesus. Luke 1:47 said, “And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.” The verse was in a long praise section after Elizabeth blessed Mary because of her pregnancy with Jesus Christ.
The phrase that Mary said shows that she needs a Savior. Mary wouldn’t rejoice in God if she is not a sinner. Only sinners can truly understand rejoicing in God the Savior because their sins are gone. God cannot be Mary’s Savior if Mary is not a sinner. There are certain groups that believe that Mary can’t be a sinner if she gives birth to Jesus Christ.
I know that there are more verses that dispell that false doctrine but I thought this verse is a good addition to these verses.

As Philippians 3:12-16 clearly shows, every Christian’s lifetime goal is to be like Christ. I hope that the new start to your year will start off with the beginning of your desire to pursue your lifetime goal of being like Christ. I preached this sermon last Sunday and hope that this will be an encouragement for you all. I might will do a short video clip about the passage. I was truly blessed studying the passage, Philippians 3:12-16.

Happy New Year!

My wife wrote this Christmas letter that we sent to our family and friends.

God is good! Instead of detailing our past year we wanted to share a few highlights of how God has blessed us. Of course the whole year hasn’t been perfect, but God has always provided us with what we need. If you feel this isn’t enough detail, call or email us and we’d be happy to share more!

Our Family & Friends

We sold a car and several months later bought another car for $5!

Brian has worked fairly steadily as a substitute teacher at Wisconsin School for the Deaf.

Bethany was in a friend’s wedding this past summer.

Bethany spent two weeks in South Carolina with her sister who had her first baby.

Our friends Becky and Cory had their first child.

We enjoyed playing in an annual wallyball tournament.

Brian started working on a Deaf Education degree.

Bethany began baby-sitting for a four-year old girl.

Anna turned one! She can walk, run, spin, dance, sing, and sign.

A new baby is on the way. We expect him/her in May!

We found a dentist to take care of our long-neglected teeth.

Bethany and Anna have fun socializing with our neighbors.

We’ve enjoyed settling into Wisconsin and exploring our new area.

Church and Deaf Ministry

Our church began building a new fellowship hall/gym!

Brian has had the opportunity to preach a few times to the hearing church.

Our church had a great outreach through our VBS.

Will Galkin’s evangelistic team came to preach at our church in October.

We have enjoyed several all-church fellowships including a Harvest and Christmas party.

Justin Vollmar came to preach for a weekend of Deaf outreach meetings

Jim Sloan was another special speaker in the Deaf ministry this past year.

Bethany enjoyed teaching the CODA’s during Thursday night Bible study.

Brian preached for the fall Deaf revival at Bethel Baptist Church.

Our Deaf group had a great outreach through our Thanksgiving Sunday.

3 CODA’s and 2 Deaf have been saved and 2 baptized since the Deaf ministry started here.
